Dermatopathology is a joint subspecialty of dermatology and anatomic pathology that focuses on the study of skin diseases at the microscopic and molecular level, in an effort to understand their causes. The interpretation of a skin biopsy is not simply another laboratory test, as the dermatopathologist analyzes the observation made under the microscope, in the context of relevant clinical information.
